About The Well Packed
I'm Nadia Beck, a freelance photographer in Portland. Around thirty domestic trips a year, plus two or three long-haul jobs, always with more camera gear than sense.
The Well Packed is my packing notebook. I care about a narrow set of things — whether a case protects two bodies and four lenses, whether the internal dividers survive being repacked in a hotel hallway, whether I can get it into an overhead without help — so that's what I write about. My sister comes along on the trips that aren't work, which is how the second bag keeps ending up in these posts.
One person, first person, no ratings. I buy my own gear. If a link earns me a commission I'll say so at the top of the page.

How this site pays for itself
Nothing on this site is sponsored, and there are currently no affiliate links — I pay for the bags and the hosting out of pocket. If that changes, the disclosure page changes first and every affected page carries a notice at the top.
What I will not do
- Take payment for a placement or a ranking.
- Write about a bag I have not bought and used myself.
- Pretend there is a team here, or a scoring system.
